Connect Your HP Printer to WiFi — Step by Step

Setting up your HP printer on WiFi lets you print wirelessly from any device. Here's how to connect it step by step.

Before You Start

• • Know your WiFi network name (SSID) and password
• • Place the printer within range of your WiFi router
• • Make sure your computer/phone is on the same WiFi network

Method 1: HP Smart App (Easiest)

1. Download HP Smart from Microsoft Store, App Store, or Google Play
2. Open the app and click Add Printer (or the + icon)
3. The app will search for nearby HP printers
4. Select your printer when it appears
5. Follow the prompts — the app will connect the printer to your WiFi automatically
6. Enter your WiFi password when asked
7. Print a test page to confirm

Method 2: Using the Printer's Touchscreen

1. On your HP printer, go to Setup or tap the Wireless icon
2. Select Network Setup or Wireless Settings
3. Choose Wireless Setup Wizard
4. The printer will scan for available networks
5. Select your WiFi network name
6. Enter your WiFi password using the on-screen keyboard
7. Wait for the connection — the wireless light will turn solid blue

Method 3: WPS Push Button (No Password Needed)

1. On your HP printer, go to Wireless Settings
2. Select Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
3. Select Push Button
4. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your WiFi router
5. The printer will connect automatically — no password entry needed

After WiFi Connection: Add Printer to Computer

Windows:

1. Go to Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners
2. Click Add a printer
3. Select your HP printer → click Add device

Mac:

1. Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners
2. Click + → select your HP printer → click Add

WiFi Not Connecting? Try These:

• • Restart your printer and WiFi router
• • Move the printer closer to the router
• • Make sure you're connecting to the 2.4GHz band (not 5GHz — most HP printers don't support 5GHz)
• • Reset network settings: On the printer, go to Wireless → Restore Network Settings
